We know how difficult it is to keep yourself accountable for the work you produce; therefore, we’ve designed this generative workshop to do just that. In this workshop, writers will write side by side, encourage one another with affirmations and prompts on social change and across genre and literary forms with core inspiration readings coming from contemporary queer and BIPOC writers. Each attendee will be paired or grouped with an accountability partner within the session for continued writing.

About the Mentor:

Dr. Raina J. León is an Afro-Latina writer and author of black god mother this body (Black Freighter Press, 2022), a hybrid text (lyric essay, poetry, visual art, and augmented reality) that explores black feminism, mothering, and resistance. She has written five other poetry books. She is a full professor of English Education at Saint Mary’s College of California and founding editor of The Acentos Review, an online journal of Latinx arts.
